Parent Portal
WELCOME, PARENTS! |
We are so excited that you have reached the Parent Portal page...this means that you have navigated deep enough into the site to find it! Here, we have placed a few parent-specific resources for you.
Firstly, it's important to keep in mind that the Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan is a Muslim country with a rich history and culture that unfortunately, as you undoubtedly know, has been steeped in civil unrest for centuries. Because of this, I recommend being ready to answer questions your child may have as he or she begins to research this country. You may wish to be present or available if your child is surfing the internet; I developed this website primarily to be a controlled avenue for the kids to access arts resources online, because in my own Google searches, I encountered some content that I would not want a child to see (such as comments below YouTube videos). The videos on the Predecessors to Pioneers website will play on the site without the comments below the videos that would normally show up on the YouTube site, for instance. |
LINKS |
Here are some links for researching, keeping in mind that politics and terrorism do exist and therefore may be found in articles you and your children find in any search. I purposely did not put the link to the BBC site, because on the Jordan page, there was an article about a response to the latest beheading. Be ready for the possibility of your child running into this if he or she surfs the web alone, and perhaps think about your comfort level in discussing these matters in case it comes up.

BLOG PERMISSION |
Click here to go to the P2P Blog...BUT WAIT! Before you do, will you please fill out the form below and let me know if it's ok to use your child's likeness (photos/videos, not names) on the blog for academic purposes, so that teachers and university professors can see how the project is going? This website is also intended to be used as a resource down the line for other teachers, and for my professors to know how the project is progressing.
Videos/photos will not be posted directly to any social media sites by the Teachers in the Predecessors to Pioneers Project. However, since this site is accessible to other parents and teachers, we cannot be responsible for the misuse of photos/videos by others. |
